We’re looking for experts in applying performance based design!
Are you passionate about performance-based design and want to share your knowledge with Australia’s architect and building design sectors? We’re looking for individuals willing to volunteer as part of a pilot Subject Matter Expert (SME) Network. We’re looking for a range of experience and initially would like experts in developing and applying performance-based design in the fields of:
- Fire Safety
- Structural Safety
- Disability Access
- Energy efficiency
- Health and Amenity
In late 2016, the ABCB embarked on a journey to engender a performance mindset and raise awareness of performance-based solutions to meet the NCC Performance Requirements across Australia’s architecture and building design sectors. This is part of the broader strategy for increasing the use of performance as part of the regulatory reform package introduced by the Building Ministers' Forum in 2014.
One of the strategy’s aims is increasing the knowledge and awareness of existing practitioners about the benefits and processes of performance-based design practices. Architects and Building Designers are one of the ABCB’s primary stakeholder group that are able to influence and lead change in mindset about performance-based design. Therefore the ABCB is initially working with this sector with the intention to expand to other sectors later.
What do I need to do?
Visit the ABCB Volunteer SME Network information page and read the Guidelines and find out how to apply. You can also follow our Increasing Performance Solutions Showcase page on LinkedIn for ongoing updates and other information on the performance initiative.
Applications closed on 12 November 2017.
Thank you for your interest.
