WaterMark Product Specification Consultation

The ABCB is responsible for the review and approval of all existing, new or amended product Specifications for adoption into the WaterMark Scheme. The Scheme Rules provide procedures and requirements for development of a new, or amended Specification. These procedures and requirements include releasing the draft document for public comment. This is to ensure all stakeholders are informed of any proposed Specification development and have the opportunity to provide input prior to finalisation of the document.

Stakeholders are invited to provide comment on any of the draft Specifications open for comment. All comments must be submitted to watermark@abcb.gov.au using the WaterMark Public Comment response sheet provided.

Draft specifications currently open for comment are listed below:


WMTS-485 Pressure compensating tank

The current Scope of this existing Specification sets out requirements for pressure compensating tanks up to 6o litre capacity. The amendments proposed are to alter the Scope to allow for increased capacity of tank sizes. The amendments proposed include changes to the Scope, review of performance requirements of Clause 9 to include larger vessels and  alterations to Clause 10 to allow for larger vessels sizes to be tested for Type Testing.

WMTS-509 Polyproplene and polyethylene access chambers and maintenance shafts for plumbing and drainage

The proposed amendments to this existing Specification include an additional product material type (Polyethylene).

WMTS-459 Waterless urinals

The proposed amendments to this existing Specification include an alternate material type (Pressed Steel Vitreous Enamel). Amendments to the Scope and additional technical requirements included within Clause 5 Materials of the existing Specification are required to accommodate this proposed change. No technical changes are proposed to the Waterless cartridge design within the existing Specification.

WMTS-469 Waterless or limited flush urinals – With an integral sealing device

The proposed amendments to this existing Specification include an alternate material type (Pressed Steel Vitreous Enamel). Amendments to the Scope and additional technical requirements included within Clause 5 Materials of the existing Specification are required to accommodate this proposed change. No technical changes are proposed to the Waterless cartridge design within the existing Specification.

WMTS-012 In-line valves for use in plumbing water supply systems – Miscellaneous types metallic and non-metallic

Specification WMTS-012 was recently released for public comment in relation to amendments to the Materials Section (Clause 5.2.4). During the course of this consultation a technical inconsistency was identified. The inconsistency identified relates to the application of scaling factor for in-line valves within AS/NZS 4020. A Proposal for Change has now been received to amend the WMTS and align the scaling factor with other valve Standards.
