Energy Efficiency Climate Zone Maps
The BCA Deemed-to-Satisfy energy efficiency provisions are structured around eight different climate zones, which are based on climatic data with some adjustment made for local government boundaries and other considerations. The BCA requirements for each zone vary depending upon the various climate characteristics applicable.
High resolution reproduction climate zone maps are available in the "Related Documents" box and can be enlarged to view local government names and boundaries. Where the local government areas are difficult to recognise the State, Territory or local government building control authority should be consulted.
The climate zone map can also assist users of the energy efficiency provisions in AS/NZS 3500 by relating the BCA climate zones to the AS/NZS 3500 climate regions as follows:
