Spring is here, bringing longer days, warmer weather, flower festivals and our second ABCB forum!

The next forum is being held on 31 October in Adelaide, and will also be live-streamed online. Net Zero was a popular topic for discussion at the first ABCB forum held in August and we’d like to continue the conversation.

Net Zero is a priority for all levels of Government in Australia, and a global priority in the continued effort around climate change. In relation to the National Construction Code (NCC), it is particularly applicable to energy efficiency for commercial and residential buildings. There has been considerable work on improving energy efficiency standards in the NCC (Building Code of Australia) over the past couple of decades, most recently with residential energy efficiency requirements in NCC 2022.

The ABCB is working on new provisions for inclusion in the next edition of the NCC, considering the next steps for the least costly path to Net Zero. We are interested to hear your suggestions on how best to approach this. We aren’t looking for fully formed answers at this stage, but the forum is an opportunity for you to tell us what you’d like us to be exploring.

Find out more and register online for the October forum – registrations are now open. The event is free to attend.

I look forward to another afternoon of valuable conversation next month.

Regards
Gary
