SA F1P4 Rising damp2019: SA FP1.5

Delete clause F1P4 and insert SA F1P4 as follows:

(1) Moisture from the ground must be prevented from causing—

  1. undue dampness or deterioration of building elements; and
  2. unhealthy or dangerous conditions, or loss of amenity for occupants.

(2) Barriers installed to prevent transfer of moisture from the ground must have—

  1. high resistance to moisture penetration; and
  2. high resistance to damage during construction; and
  3. high resistance to degradation by dissolved salts.

SA F1D1 Deemed-to-Satisfy Provisions2019: F1.0

Delete subclause F1D1(1) and insert SA F1D1(1) as follows:

(1) Where a Deemed-to-Satisfy Solution is proposed, Performance Requirements F1P1 to F1P3 and SA F1P4 are satisfied by complying with F1D2 to F1D5, F1D6 (1) and (3), SA F1D6(2), SA F1D7 and F1D8.

SA F1D6 Damp-proofing2019: F1.9

Delete subclause F1D6(2) and insert SA F1D6(2) as follows:

(2) Damp-proof courses must exhibit long term resistance to degradation by dissolved salts in groundwater and consist of—

  1. embossed black polyethylene film meeting the requirements of clause 7.6 of AS/NZS 2904; or
  2. polyethylene coated aluminium meeting the requirements of clause 7.4 of AS/NZS 2904; or
  3. bitumen impregnated materials of not less than 2.5 mm thickness, meeting the requirements of clause 7.5 of AS/NZS 2904, when used in walls not higher than 7.8 m above the level of the damp-proof course.

SA F1D7 Damp-proofing of floors on the ground2019: SA F1.10

Delete clause F1D7 and insert SA F1D7 as follows:

(1) If a floor of a room is laid on the ground or on fill, a damp-proofing membrane complying with Section 5.3.3 of AS 2870 must be installed.

(2) A damp-proofing membrane need not be provided if—

  1. weatherproofing is not required; or
  2. the floor is the base of a stair, lift or similar shaft which is adequately drained by gravitation or mechanical means.
